Dynamic System
Chapter 2: CV
WOOD WIDE WEB
As the metaphor of old trees, "mother tree" provides carbon source for their seedlings and makes a good start for them; Seedlings ensure a greater dominance of their species in the ecosystem, and dying trees contribute all their nutrients and sugar to the environment. Some plants that can't do photosynthesis rely on getting carbon from the network. At the same time, mycorrhizal network can exchange not only carbon, but also more resources. Any sick trees can send their remaining resources back into the network for others, and they can communicate with each other about dangers like insect infestations.
